The Viola capitulated at the Stadio Olimpico to a Ciro Immobile tap-in from a corner at the back post.

“It’s a pity, because we did have the opportunities to score at least one goal,” Pioli told DAZN.

“As a Coach, I have to be satisfied with a young team that is playing a good game and approaching a difficult fixture this way. Having said that, it’s now time to get results.

“We lacked determination and efficiency in our finishing. Our away record has been poor this season, but we have to take into account that we faced three of the best teams in Italy on their own turf.”

Marko Pjaca has contributed one goal and one assist this season, but they were both in the same match against SPAL.

“He did better today than last week, as he was more vivacious and tried to take men on. It’s a step forward, although clearly I expect more from him,” continued Pioli.

“Federico Chiesa fought hard and got a good kicking again today. It hasn’t been an easy week for him (with the controversy over simulation), but the fact he replied with such a positive performance is a sign of his maturity.”
