Lorenzo Insigne thanked Carlo Ancelotti for the new role and confidence, while urging Napoli teammate Allan to choose Italy.

“I am more relaxed, I have the faith of the Coach and above all my teammates. I try to repay that faith on the field with sacrifice for my teammates and trying to score goals for the team,” he told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-0 win over Sassuolo.

Insigne is scoring with remarkable regularity, especially compared to his time in Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation, as Ancelotti moved to 4-4-2.

“I always had faith in myself, but this time the Coach put me a bit closer to the goal and that saves me a little effort in defence, but in return he asked me to be more precise and determined in my finishing.

“I am enjoying it more, I get to focus on one aspect and the fans love goals, so I love giving them goals to cheer.

“I am going through a good period of form, I hope to continue like this and to keep scoring regularly, but aside from all that, I really hope Napoli can go all the way in every competition.”

There are reports, apparently confirmed by Insigne, that Roberto Mancini has asked Brazilian midfielder Allan to play for Italy.

“I’d be happy if Italy could ‘sign’ Allan, because he has so much determination and is so helpful off the ball. It’s his personal choice and I hope he makes the best one.”
