SPAL Coach Leonardo Semplici insists they “deserved more” from a 1-1 draw with Atalanta, especially after a soft equalising penalty.

“I think the penalty incident was pretty clear, so I’ll let you comment on it,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are a little upset, because we deserved something more. It’s a pity the crossbar denied us the victory after such a good performance.”

SPAL are nonetheless now unbeaten in five rounds and continue the push to stay in Serie A.

“We suffered some defeats to sides that were on a different level, but then we came together and play with newfound maturity now.

“We must have faith, even if it’ll be difficult, because we have what it takes to secure safety.”
