Former Milan star Dejan Savicevic is glad the Rossoneri have Gonzalo Higuain over Inter striker Mauro Icardi. “He doesn’t only score…”
Next week’s Derby della Madonnina is being billed as a battle between the two Argentine hitmen, but Savicevic made it clear he was on ‘team Higuain’.
“Icardi or Higuain are two different types of strikers,” the Montenegrin maverick told Gazzetta dello Sport.
I prefer Pipita because he doesn’t only score but also participates in the game, assists his teammates and improves the whole group.
“Icardi is an extraordinary finisher, but the team must put themselves at his disposal. Is there enough ‘fantasy’ in this Milan? Of course.
“When you have someone like Suso on the field, the ball moves very well. Comparisons between his left foot and mine? Us lefties are a bit similar.
“For sure Suso is a complete player and has everything to become a great player. How much does the No 10 shirt weigh on Calhanoglu? For me, it mattered little. When I started playing, I stopped thinking about it.
“It’s the pressure that can put him in trouble, but from the outside I can’t explain his lack of form.
“He has quality and he’ll grow. For now, however, Milan are breaking through from the right: Suso, but also Kessie.
“They’re the players who are leading Milan’s charge with Higuain, plus there’s Bonaventura.”
