Former Inter, Roma, Genoa and Torino defender Nicolas Burdisso has announced his retirement – “I’ve done everything I dreamed of as a child”.
The 37-year-old has been without a club after leaving the Granata in the summer, and has today confirmed that he’ll hang up his boots.
“Today, 19 years after my debut, the time has come to end my adventure as a footballer,” Burdisso wrote on Instagram.

The 37-year-old has been without a club after leaving the Granata in the summer, and has today confirmed that he’ll hang up his boots.
“Today, 19 years after my debut, the time has come to end my adventure as a footballer,” Burdisso wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you to all of those who have accompanied me on this journey; to God, my family, my teammates and teams, my Coaches and, above all, the fans.
“Football was my tool to be happy every day and to improve as a person, and I’ll continue to be happy.
“I’m proud and satisfied, I’ve done everything I dreamed of as a child.”
Burdisso was capped 49 times by Argentina, and made 551 appearances at club level, scoring 24 goals.
He won four Scudetti and the Coppa Italia with Inter, as well as a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics.
Curiously, he also scored four goals in the 2006-07 Coppa Italia and ended as the competition’s top goalscorer.
