Marek Hamsik’s father admits “it is too soon to tell if this could be his final season at Napoli” amid new reports of a move to China.
The captain had been on the verge of this transfer over the summer, but the asking price was considered too steep.
“It is too soon to tell if this could be his final season at Napoli,” Richard Hamsik told Radio Marte.
“He has a contract to 2020 with option until 2021. We all hope he can remain, but it’s still too early to say.”
The midfielder’s father was asked if he was starting lessons to learn Chinese.
“No, Chinese is too difficult.”
Napoli’s season is going well, as they are second in Serie A and top of the Champions League group after a victory over Liverpool.
“I watched the game at the San Paolo and thought Marek played very well against the Reds, as did the whole team. Let’s not forget that Liverpool are a very strong side, but that shows just how well Napoli played.”
