“I am aiming to become one of the best in the world in my role. At the moment, the best are Neymar and Hazard, but I can be up there with them, as long as I avoid further injuries.”

However, this evening Pjaca released a statement on social media in both Italian and Croatian.

“Over the last few days, many media in Croatia and Italy repeated the interview, but I want to make it clear that I never said ‘without the injury I’d be on the same level as Neymar or Hazard’ or ‘I’ll become the best player in the world in my position’ or anything similar to it.

“Anyone who knows me can guarantee that in my lifetime nothing even similar to that could come through my lips. I respect everyone, including myself, but you’ll never hear me say something like that.”
