Inter flop Gabriel Barbosa would “stay at Santos forever” but admits “it’s not just up to me”.
The Brazilian forward joined the Nerazzurri for €33.5m in 2016, but he scored just once before being loaned out to Benfica.
The striker known as Gabigol didn’t play there either, and he was sent back to Santos.
That deal ends in January, and with the 22-year-old under contract until June 2021 his future is uncertain.
“I’m focused on the last nine games,” Gabigol told Estadao.
“They could be my last with Santos, which I have to admit makes me a little bit sad. I want experience every training session and every game in the best possible way, then we’ll sit down and talk.
“My parents, my agents, Santos and Inter will be there and I’m happy that the President said he’d like to keep me.
“It’s better to be calm and focus on playing, it’s not something that will be resolved overnight.
“I could stay at Santos, I could go to Europe or I could join another Brazilian team. Any player would be happy to have so many clubs interested in him, so I’m lucky.
“I want to finish these matches in the best way, for myself, my teammates, the fans and the club.
“Everyone knows my love for Santos and my desire to play here, but it’s not just up to me.
“If it depended only on my heart then I’d stay at Santos forever, until I retire. But I respect all teams.”
