“This is always a prestigious clash and the chance to continue measuring ourselves up against glorious clubs who were built to achieve different objectives to us,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Seeing as Samp’s mission is to make life difficult for everyone, it’ll be a game where we can test our strength.”

Milan are under huge pressure after back-to-back defeats against Inter and Real Betis, with Gennaro Gattuso reportedly hanging by a thread.

“I have great respect for Milan, because it’s a team that I like and was put together with a real sense of logic. It’s a side that has specific ideas of football.

“The last two performances cannot damage the value of the Rossoneri, as they are well-organised and I still remember their performance of quality and authority against Napoli.

“I have great respect for Milan and Gattuso, who is an honest and direct person. Of course, a defeat makes everything more complicated and controversy is part of the sport. You’ve got to keep a clear idea of where you want to go.

“We have to take the same approach and prepare one game at a time, not looking ahead to other objectives or long-term aims. I hear reports Milan could change tactical system, but I’m not so sure. We go into this game with certainties on ourselves, but doubts over how the opposition will face us.”

Riccardo Saponara, Gregoire Defrel and Jakub Jankto are all in the squad and should be fit for the starting XI.

“I have many doubts, because so many are in good shape and ‘threaten’ the usual starters. Those who do play mustn’t rest on their laurels, but realise there are others breathing down their necks and no place is guaranteed.”
