Paris Saint-Germain Coach Thomas Tuchel announces Gianluigi Buffon “will play against Lille and Napoli”.
The veteran goalkeeper spent his entire career on the peninsula with Parma and Juventus, but he moved to France in the summer.
He was suspended for the first three Champions League games of the season after his red card against Real Madrid, but he’ll start on his return to Italy.
“He’ll be in goal tomorrow, and also against Napoli,” Tuchel said in his Press conference ahead of the Lille game.
“I always say that he has a very important role for us, because he’s a legend and he’s had a great career.
“He has a lot of experience and that’s really important, but so is his approach to the sport. It’s very important that Gigi is here to talk to everyone and share his experience.”
Edinson Cavani’s return to Naples has been much anticipated, but he could miss out through injury…
“Yesterday, Cavani, [Layvin] Kurzawa, [Dani] Alves and Colin Dagba trained with the group, but only for the first part, then they worked individually.
“With Edi we’ll need to wait and see in today’s training session. It’s not certain, but it’s possible he’ll be with the group tomorrow. For the other three it’s too early.
“It’s important to have players with different characteristics. Edi is a true number 9 but he still works hard for the team, and it’s important to have players who aren’t too similar.
“He’s carrying a knock right now but it’s important for us to be with us and have confidence. It was the same in the last match, when a number 9 doesn’t score he loses confidence.
“The Coach talking to a player a lot or not at all won’t help, the only thing that can help him is a goal.”
