Marco Giampaolo warns the 4-1 home defeat to Torino has fundamentally changed Sampdoria’s ambitions. “It takes away our credibility.”

Andrea Belotti scored twice along with Iago Falque and Armando Izzo, but there could’ve been more at Marassi.

“The final result might suggest it was a disastrous match against an opponent that dominated us, but the details made the difference,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Andrea Belotti scored twice along with Iago Falque and Armando Izzo, but there could’ve been more at Marassi.

“The final result might suggest it was a disastrous match against an opponent that dominated us, but the details made the difference,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“They were superior in the little things: physicality, getting to the rebound or following up deflections. They were able to score goals, whereas we weren’t precise, sharp or cool-headed enough.

Torino ultimately deserved it, but a side like Samp cannot lose 4-1 at home. This result takes away some of our credibility, forces us to take a step back in our ambitions.

“At the same time, it’s not the end of the world, but it must make us reflect on our status. The first goal was avoidable, so was the goal on the corner. Torino proved they were stronger than Samp, at least on this day. I accept the defeat, but do not accept the proportion of the defeat, because that takes away from our credibility.

“We’ve got to learn how to stay in the game even when we’re losing, not just fall apart. That’s what a team is supposed to do.”
