Kretinsky interested in Roma

Reports claim Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský is interested in buying Roma from James Pallotta.

The businessman is believed to have a net worth of around €2.2bn, as the majority owner of EPH energy group.

According to La Repubblica, the 43-year-old had considered a €600m bid for Milan, but that was rejected by Elliott Management.

Instead, Corriere della Sera reports, Křetínský has turned his attention to the Giallorossi.

The businessman has a long-standing interest in football, and is one of the owners of Sparta Prague.

However, as things stand Roma’s American owner Jim Pallotta doesn’t want to sell the club.

The Lupi are still trying to build a new stadium in Tor di Valle, and the club would be worth far more in any potential sale if a state-of-the-art stadium is one of the assets.

Despite numerous delays, Pallotta is still convinced that the stadium can be built, so there will be no imminent sale to Křetínský or anyone else.
