Fiorentina’s application to be involved in Milan’s Court of Arbitration for Sport hearing was rejected partly because they were late submitting the application, according to a lawyer.
The Viola would have replaced the Rossoneri in the Europa League had their ban been upheld, and they had asked to be an interested party in the case.
That was rejected by CAS, and sports lawyer Mattia Grassani reveals that they were late in their application.
The email sent to the court was six hours and 49 minutes after the deadline, and didn’t contain all of the relevant information.
It was therefore rejected by the court, who later reinstated Milan to the Europa League.
