Stefano Pioli insists “Fiorentina have always been very transparent with me” after the bungled letter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Viola would have replaced Milan in the Europa League had the Rossoneri’s ban been upheld, but they were denied the opportunity to be involved in the case as an interested party.
It’s believed that came about because they sent their request late and incomplete, meaning they couldn’t put their case to the court.
“For me the CAS-Europa League affair ended on July 19,” Pioli shrugged in his Press conference ahead of the Frosinone match.
“All I’m worried about now is trying to qualify on the pitch. Those who say I’m a man alone and I don’t talk to the club isn’t telling the truth.
“Fiorentina have always been very transparent with me, and I was assured that everything possible was done on this subject.
“Nothing would have changed if that famous mail had ready CAS in time.”
Tomorrow will be Pioli’s 50th match in Serie A as Fiorentina Coach.
“Every time I celebrate something, things go wrong ... I can only say that I hope they are only the first 50 matches in Viola.”
