Lazio director Igli Tare confirmed his new contract and noted Olympique Marseille’s choices show they “fear and respect” the Italians.
It kicks off at 17.55 GMT, follow all the action as it happens on the LIVEBLOG.
“I can confirm we are down to the details for my contract extension to 2022,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.
“It is important for the growth process of the team to do well this evening. We know Marseille are dangerous and they are copying our tactics with a three-man defence, which means they both fear and respect Lazio.
“We have to win, that way we can feel secure of our place in the next round and focus on Serie A for the next few weeks.”
Lazio already won 3-1 at the Stade Velodrome, meaning a victory tonight could be enough to mathematically secure their place in the next round.
Joaquin Correa gets his start against Marseille this evening, supporting Ciro Immobile, as Felipe Caicedo is out injured.
“There is no such thing as a player who doesn’t want to play regularly and it’s up to them to change the mind of the Coach on who goes into the starting XI.
“Correa has a lot of quality. Many might not consider him that quick on the counter, but that’s not why we signed him, and he’ll do well with Immobile.
“The four defeats against the big clubs in Serie A are disappointing, especially as they call came after a run of victories. We want to go all the way and qualify for the Champions League, which remains our primary objective for the season, but we’re not ignoring or under-estimating the Europa League.”
