Chievo legend Sergio Pellissier has slammed Giampiero Ventura for stepping down. “He wanted out as soon as he got here. Don’t be like him.”
Ventura offered his resignation after Chievo’s 0-0 draw with Bologna on Sunday, and Pellissier made it clear the former Italy CT had burned bridges with the squad.
“In this picture you can see all the anger I have right now,” wrote the veteran striker on Instagram.
“A tough summer with the capital gains problem, a start of the season to be forgotten and to top it all off, the resignation of a Coach who, as soon as he got here, had already wanted out.
“Crazy!!! In 22 seasons as a professional I thought I’d seen everything, but I’m forced to admit that there’s always something new.
“However at Chievo, we’re used to always having difficulties and we’ll go out with our heads held high.
“in the face of all those who are having fun at our expense right now, you can’t get anything in life without fighting for it. There would be no taste, no?
“We’ll start over from scratch and this time we will be even stronger. Those who love this team can’t abandon them, just because things are bad.
“That’s not how it should be. Don’t be like Ventura. You win and lose together. That’s how it must be in a team. Don’t give up until it’s over.”
