Now Il Sole 24 Ore confirms that the intention is to lease the land from the city council for 99 years, rather than renting the stadium.

Last week the two clubs officially confirmed that they are exploring options for a shared stadium project, likely a redevelopment of the Giuseppe Meazza.
Now Il Sole 24 Ore confirms that the intention is to lease the land from the city council for 99 years, rather than renting the stadium.
That is similar to what Juventus did when they built their new stadium, and would allow the clubs to save on the cost of building an entire new arena while ensuring the council doesn’t lose out on the revenue they currently make.
The project will be similar to the one the Nerazzurri had planned in 2015, and will see the stadium completely renovated over a four year period.
The top tier seating will be removed, reducing the capacity to 65,000 people, and used for catering and commercial activities.
The total cost should be around €200m, which would be divided between Inter, Milan and the city council.
That will be offset by selling the naming rights to the stadium, just as Juventus Stadium became Allianz Stadium – outside of UEFA and FIFA competition – last year.
With the increase in crowds for both teams in recent years, revenues from the stadium are projected at €100m each per season.
That would be well in advance of the €55m Juve earn from their stadium, which is already more than double that of the Milan clubs currently.
