Aurelio De Laurentiis confirms Napoli will ‘buy’ in January and that he will not move the club out of the San Paolo. “It’s the theatre of Maradona.”
Napoli have been tipped to make some moves this winter after a quiet summer, while a feud has broken out between De Laurentiis and the local council over the San Paolo, which the President once described as ‘an ever-increasing toilet’.
“We’ll buy in January, but I won’t tell you from where,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I won’t build a stadium elsewhere. The San Paolo is part of a history that I don’t want to forget. It’s the theatre of Maradona.
“Napoli are a great attractor. People talk to me wherever I go, especially abroad. We’re the 19th richest team in the world and we owe no bank debts. We’re a model to follow.
“Maybe we won’t be able to beat Juventus, who knows, but with their turnover I’d have won 10 Scudetti too. We often went very close.”
