The Serie C match between Cuneo and Virtus Entella will be replayed, after a player was booked twice but not sent off.
Simone Paolini was booked in the 91st minute of the second half by Daniele Perenzoni, but he’d already been booked in the 61st.
The referee failed to send off the Cuneo player, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The giudice sportivo concluded that “this failure created an insurmountable imbalance in the last four minutes of the game” which meant the result couldn’t be considered “in compliance with the rules”.
Therefore “a technical error was established on the part of the referee”, so the result has been annulled and the game will be replayed.
Paolini has also been given a one game ban, as he would have been had he been sent off.
