Di Carlo: 'Respect Lazio, but...'

Chievo “respect Lazio, but there can be no fear because we need to pick up points against everyone,” warned Coach Domenico Di Carlo.

It kicks off at 17.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.

He made his debut on the bench with a surprise 0-0 draw away to Napoli and now faces another extremely difficult test.

“The Napoli result did give us more confidence and it showed in training this week,” said Di Carlo in his Press conference.

“We relied on our characteristics at the San Paolo, but we cannot afford certain lapses against Lazio, because they are lethal on the counter-attack.

“We need a great performance because Lazio are a great opponent. I expect the same desire to press them and show courage.

“Lazio are a tough side to take on and I congratulate Simone Inzaghi, as he always seems able to get the best out of his players. We respect Lazio, but there can be no fear, because we need to pick up points against everyone.”

The Flying Donkeys have indeed had a disastrous campaign, as they started from -3 points due to financial irregularities, are still without a victory and Di Carlo is their third Coach of the season.

“I am happy that Emanuele Giaccherini, Filip Djordjevic and Fabrizio Cacciatore are available again. Giaccherini can either come off the bench and split a game wide open or give his all for an hour and then leave room for others. We need our quality players to help us win these games.”
