Genoa President Enrico Preziosi admits “I was wrong to recall Ivan Juric” but “I was convinced that this time it could end well”.
The Croatian was appointed for a third time last month, replacing Davide Ballardini despite three wins in the five games preceding his sacking.
Juric failed to win a single match though, and after the Coppa Italia loss to Virtus Entella he was replaced by Cesare Prandelli.
“I was wrong to recall Juric,” Preziosi admitted in an interview with Il Secolo XIX.
“But I was convinced that this time it could end well. I talked to Juric at the end of the [Entella] match, he thanked me and said he understood the situation.
“He was unlucky but he also made mistakes: we couldn’t go on.
“Prandelli will put things right, I’m convinced we’ll end the season in the top half of the table.
“In January we’ll intervene on the transfer market for the reinforcements we need, we’re already following some players.”
