Reports in Scotland suggest Rangers have sent Umar Sadiq back to Roma six months early, after he failed to make an impact in Glasgow.

The 21-year-old joined the Gers on a season long loan deal in the summer, after previous spells at Torino, Bologna and NAC Breda.

However, he has struggled to break into the team, and his attitude has been publicly criticised by manager Steven Gerrard.

Sadiq has made just one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership, and only one start in all competitions.

However, he has struggled to break into the team, and his attitude has been publicly criticised by manager Steven Gerrard.

Sadiq has made just one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership, and only one start in all competitions.

That was in the League Cup semi-final when Kyle Lafferty was cup-tied and Alfredo Morelos was suspended, but his only contribution was to be booked for an outrageous dive after rounding the goalkeeper.

Now the Scottish Sun is reporting that Rangers have terminated Sadiq’s loan spell even before the January transfer window, telling him he’s free to return to Italy.

He will therefore almost certainly be loaned out by Roma when the transfer window opens.
