The Neroverdi managed to fumble a two-goal lead last week against Fiorentina, turning what could have been a win into a messy 3-3 draw, but they were clinical and ruthless at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.
"I'm really glad we recovered after those horrible three minutes we experienced last week," said De Zerbi after the game. "That's exactly what we were working on.
"We had a decent first half, but the latter part of the game was one of our best this whole season. We have to remember what today was like and turn it into a long-term model for us."
Domenico Berardi also scored a goal, which will come as a relief to the player after a disappointing dry spell.
"Berardi started out the season extremely well, then he suffered an understandable decline in his performances. Now he's back to the highest levels.
"When a striker doesn't score, his performance is judged unobjectively. Today he scored, yes, but in my view he also did many other things that mattered.
"Quality is the most important thing when you want to play at a certain level. [Manuel] Locatelli has that, as do [Mehdi] Bourabia and [Francesco] Magnanelli, although their skill-set is different, with smoother passing.
"I'm privileged, because I don't think that there are many teams who have our quality in the middle of the pitch."
With today's victory, the Neroverdi are only two points away from fourth-placed Milan, giving them an opportunity to fight for a Champions League placement.
"Us, qualifying for the Champions League? Let's not joke around! We haven't set ourselves an objective because we still haven't found our own stability. Once we've fixed that issue, we'll say where we want to go.
"We wasted more than just two points along the way, but it's our fault for coming short and not getting them."
