Anthony Martial’s agent admits he is ‘very pessimistic’ over a new contract for the Manchester United forward, who is a reported target for Serie A clubs.

Martial was heavily linked with Juventus over the summer, while Inter and Milan have each been credited with an interest in the Frenchman this season.

United have taken up a 12-month option to extend the 23-year-old’s contract until 2020, but Philippe Lamboley conceded his client was unlikely to stay beyond that.

“I’m very pessimistic,” he told The Mirror.

“They have already sent us offers that do not meet our expectations. We are far from an agreement for the time being.”

Martial has scored nine goals in 19 appearances for the Red Devils this term but was benched for their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.
