Roma flop Patrik Schick has reportedly relented and given the all-clear for a loan to his old club Sampdoria.

The 22-year-old was signed in the summer of 2018 for a total of €14m plus up to another €8m in various bonuses.

However, he has failed to live up to expectations, managing only four goals in 41 competitive games.

It was hoped during Edin Dzeko’s injury that he would step up and find some form in his favoured role, but the results continued to be dire.

According to Calciomercato.it, Schick has now accepted the situation is untenable and he needs to go out on loan to rediscover some confidence.

The ideal solution is to go back to Sampdoria on loan, which is where he impressed so much that he sparked a bidding war between Juventus and Roma.

Crucially, it will not be linked to Gregoire Defrel’s future, so can be negotiated separately.
