Milan will reportedly appeal to have the UEFA Financial Fair Play deadline extended from 2021 to the more manageable 2023.

The ruling was handed down by UEFA that they would have to pay for failing to balance the books by having €12m in prizes withheld and seeing their European ban reinstated if they fail to break even by 2021.

It has been reported the Rossoneri are lodging an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Now the suggestions are that the objective is not to have the fine or punishment reduced, but rather a change of deadline.

Moving it from 2021 to 2023 would give Milan and new owners Elliott Management Corporation an extra two years to break even.

They hope therefore to avoid being forced to sell top stars in order to cover the massive losses inherited from Yonghong Li.
