Stefano Pioli warned Fiorentina “demand respect, as we were denied a clear penalty” in the 0-0 draw with Genoa.

“Unfortunately, this is not the first time we are left with regrets,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We had a strong hour and can do better, but unfortunately we were neither precise, nor fortunate. Having said all of that, we demand respect. We are Fiorentina and want to be treated the same way as everyone else.

“I see penalties awarded today for handball that were less obvious than the one we were denied today, even with a VAR review. We were told if an arm is stretched out enough to expand the area covered by the body and block the ball, then it is a penalty.

“We may well miss the penalties, but we ought to at least be given the chance. We’ve had penalties given against us that were much, much less obvious.

“Considering the performances we’ve had lately, we could’ve had another couple of victories, at least. We want to improve upon last season, but that means doing more than this, working harder and taking more of our chances.”
