Fabio Capello has called Milan’s 4-0 Champions League Final victory over Barcelona “the most wonderful moment of my career.”
The triumph in Athens in 1994 came against the odds, with Marco van Basten injured, Franco Baresi and Alessandro Costacurta suspended.
They ran riot with a Daniele Massaro brace, Dejan Savicevic lob and Marcel Desailly to finish it off by the hour mark.
“I thank all my teams, Roma, Juventus, Milan, Real Madrid, England and Russia,” said Capello when receiving a career award at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.
“I had a very long career, starting out as a player and concluding as a Coach. Thank you to the players and Presidents who had faith in me.
“The most wonderful moment of my career was beating Barcelona 4-0 in Athens for the Champions League Final. All the journalists assumed we were done for, and we ‘only’ won 4-0.
“If you have great players, you can beat anyone, as mentality is the most important thing.”
