Chelsea believe they can snatch Franck Kessie from Milan for around €40-50m, perhaps in part-exchange for Tiemoue Bakayoko.
According to Tuttomercatoweb and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Maurizio Sarri aims to make the most of the delicate financial situation the Rossoneri find themselves in.
The Ivorian just turned 22 last month and joined Milan from Atalanta on a loan deal worth €8m in 2017 with obligation to buy for a further €24m in July 2019.
That decision was made before the club’s change of ownership and stringent UEFA Financial Fair Play penalties.
With the deadline looming, Milan could make some quick cash by selling Kessie to the Premier League, where Chelsea are at a clear advantage over Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
That is also because the San Siro side took Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea with a €35m option to buy at the end of the season.
Bakayoko started very badly, but has since grown to put in some solid performances, improving considerably under the tutelage of Gennaro Gattuso.
Chelsea could use this deal as leverage to pick up Kessie, although the proposal would have to be at least €40-50m.
