Manolo Gabbiadini is in negotiations for a return to Sampdoria, on loan with €12m obligation to buy from Southampton.

Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed this week that Gabbiadini could leave “in the next few days.”

While Milan, Bologna and Fiorentina had been mentioned as options, Sky Sport Italia claim that Sampdoria are the new hot favourites.

It’d be a comeback to Marassi for Gabbiadini, who already played there from July 2013 to January 2015, when he was sold to Napoli for €12.5m.

It’d be a comeback to Marassi for Gabbiadini, who already played there from July 2013 to January 2015, when he was sold to Napoli for €12.5m.

The 27-year-old would be available on loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season for around €12m.

However, Samp can only make this deal work if they first cut down their squad, so Gregoire Defrel or Gianluca Caprari would leave.

It is most likely that Defrel will head to the Premier League for Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Atalanta have shown interest in Caprari.
