There are growing reports from multiple sources that the striker is heading to Napoli for around €25m plus bonuses, although he’ll remain at Marassi on loan until the end of the season.

“First of all, I want to make clear that nobody is leaving Genoa in January. Having said that, some might want to get a deal in early to stave off competition,” director general Perinetti told Radio CRC.

“We did have a meeting with Napoli for Kouame. The collaborators are here and we’ll have another encounter with them over the next week.”

He was asked if it was true that Everton had made enquiries after the Ivorian too.

“There are at least two Premier League clubs who want Kouame, as they often send scouts to observe him. I look at Kouame and Krzysztof Piatek and am happy to have both at Genoa.”

Meanwhile, the Grifone are in negotiations with Juventus to send defender Cristian Romero to Turin next term.

“Juve have focused their attention on him. He is a 20-year-old player who made his Serie A debut against Cristiano Ronaldo and did very well. It’s not easy to find someone who can be a great defender.”
