Stefano Sturaro could be on his way back to Genoa after a Sporting CP spell on loan from Juventus.

The 25-year-old midfielder has not played a single minute of football this season due to a torn Achilles tendon.

He is reportedly on his way back to fitness and will return to Turin six months early, having not played for Sporting at all.

According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, Sturaro’s next step will be to Marassi, where he’d join Genoa on a permanent basis.

It would be a comeback, as he already played for the Grifone from the youth academy up to February 2015.

It’s possible his move would be part of an exchange deal with defender Cristian Romero, as the two clubs are in confirmed negotiations for a summer switch to Juve.
