Juventus and Milan will face off for the Supercoppa in Jeddah later this month, but the decision to play in the Middle Eastern nation has been criticised by human-rights groups.

In addition, there are areas of the stadium which are only open to men, while women have only been allowed to attend matches in Saudi Arabia since last January.

However, Salvini came under fire for seemingly downplaying the racism recently subjected to Kalidou Koulibaly during a Serie A game and has been described far-right by some political commentators.

“I don’t want to boycott it, but I won’t watch it,” he told reporters.

“I’ll watch a drama instead. Playing the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia is an oxymoron. I can’t watch a game between veils and burqas…”
