It was confirmed last week that the Marassi fixture would be rescheduled from its earlier kick-off time of 21:00 CET (20:00 GMT) for reasons of public safety.

That prompted a backlash from the local council, while governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti had reservations over traffic, given part of the Morandi Bridge had collapsed just five months before.

Consequently, banners have been put up in various parts of the city, expressing disappointment with the Italian government for pushing through with the change.

“Monday at 3pm, the death of football,” read one, while another stated “incompetent observatory, football belongs to the fans. You’ve broken football!”

Rossoblu fans belonging to Marassi’s Gradinata Nord curva have already hinted that they will boycott the match.
