Olympique Marseille new boy Mario Balotelli claims ‘I knew that sooner or later I’d play here’ after completing his move from Nice.
Balotelli has signed a lucrative contract with Marseille until the end of the season, and the Italy hitman believes he has joined a ‘historic’ club.
“I hope I can make the fans happy,” began OM’s new No 9 at his official unveiling on Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m similar to the people of Marseille. There’s a very warm fan base here, plus a stadium that gives you chills.
“I knew that sooner or later I’d play here. This is a historic team who are known all around the world. I already know some of the players here, like [Adil] Rami.
“I’m here to give my best and help my teammates. In this first part of the season I was unlucky, but I want to go back to scoring and I hope the others score too.
The 28-year-old has been registered in time for Marseille’s Ligue 1 match against Lille on Friday, but he has not played a competitive game since December 4…
“You need 90 minutes in your legs and to be able to train with others in order to be in top shape,” he continued.
“Lately I’ve been training alone, so it’s clear that I’ll need a bit of time to find my best form.”
