“He didn’t train much and had a tough week,” he said at a Press conference.

“We’ll keep him here to train and prepare for Tuesday. The only thing I know is that Allan will stay.

“He’s an important player for us and he’ll be even more so in this second part of the season.

“It wasn’t difficult to manage Allan because everything was very clear. On our part there was no need to sell him.

“There was the prospect of PSG buying him, but then there are conditions and requests. If the offers don’t satisfy the club, nothing changes.

“The club accepted the needs of the player to move if there the conditions for him to do so, but the player is aware [that isn’t the case] and we won’t have problems with him. De Laurentiis doesn’t want to sell his players.”

Ancelotti was then asked whether reports linking Napoli with Pablo Fornals and Hirving Lozano had any credibility, as well as the latest on Sevilla target Marko Rog.

“The club are attentive to what goes on outside of Italy,” he continued.

“Fornals is one of many that we’re following and not the only one. He’s on a list of young players we’re looking at.

"Lozano’s an excellent player. He’s also on the list of players we’re following, like Fornals and others…

“Rog won’t be in the squad but for a different reason. He’s taken a knock, but his position is still uncertain because he can go out on loan, although only on our terms.”

Finally, the former Milan boss had his say on facing his old club and their new signing Krzysztof Piatek.

“I’m convinced what happened on December 26 won’t happen again,” he remarked, referring to the racist abuse Kalidou Koulibaly received from Inter fans on Boxing Day.

“As for tomorrow, I have the pleasure of returning to a stadium where I experienced many emotions.

“I would never want to face Milan on an emotional level, but it’ll a great thrill against one of the key players of my time there in Gattuso.

“Piatek’s presented himself well and shown some important characteristics. He’s a modern striker, as well as having a goalscorer’s instinct.

“I’m convinced he’ll do very well for Milan, but that’s not to say I won’t hold tight to Milik, who’s playing with consistency.”
