It’s not easy being a UK-based fan of Calcio, as the rights have over the decades skipped around from the likes of Sky to Channel 4, Bravo, Channel 5, British Eurosport, BT Sport, Eleven Sports and from February Premier Sports.

One of the biggest complaints users had about Eleven Sports was the fact it was available only via streaming, but Premier Sports can also be viewed on Sky (albeit not in Ireland) and Virgin Media in HD at a cost of £9.99 per month.

There is also a season ticket option available for £99 on Sky.

It was founded in 2009 by Michael O’Rourke, who was already part owner of Setanta Sports.

Although Setanta survived in Ireland and continues to cover the Premier League, Setanta Sports GB collapsed in June 2009.

Premier Sports really began to get noticed in the UK after it won exclusive rights to show the Copa America, along with several pre-season friendlies from the International Champions Cup.

They currently show the Scottish FA Cup, Dutch Eredivisie and Chinese Super League.

It’s not just football, as they also focus on rugby, NASCAR, ice hockey and the Gaelic games.
