“I want to see a ferocious team out there,” said Di Carlo in his Press conference.

“Everyone must have the same idea in their minds and the same approach, going to Empoli in order to play a great game, one in the Chievo style.

“Let’s not fall into the trap of calling it decisive, though. It is a head-to-head, but I want head and legs working together at full speed. That’s what will matter in this match.”

The Flying Donkeys are still bottom of the table, and have a three-point penalty for financial irregularities.

However, they were very unlucky not to take at least a point off Fiorentina in last week’s dramatic 4-3 home defeat.

“We were defeated in terms of results, but not in our performance, our pride and even our style of football. I expect the same attitude against Empoli, of a team that dares and wants to prove itself in a showdown for position.”

Chievo have already called up January signings Lucas Piazon, Ezequiel Schelotto and Diousse.

Chievo squad for Empoli: Caprile, Semper, Sorrentino; Bani, Barba, Cesar, Frey, Jaroszynski, Rossettini, Tanasijevic; Burruchaga, Diousse, Giaccherini, Hetemaj, Kiyine, Piazon, Rigoni, Schelotto; Djordjevic, Grubac, Meggiorini, Pellissier, Pucciarelli, Stepinski, Vignato
