Sinisa Mihajlovic could not have asked for a better debut on the Bologna bench with the victory away to Inter. “This proves what you can do with courage.”
The Rossoblu hadn’t won a single Serie A match since September, while their last away success was all the way back in December 2017.
Mihajlovic replaced Pippo Inzaghi on the bench and immediately grabbed a 1-0 result at San Siro.
“It wasn’t easy, but as I told the lads, the result wasn’t interesting to me. If we won, that’d be better, but I wanted to see the performance,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“Inter only had a couple of chances in the first half, while our tempo dropped after the break, but we all worked together under pressure.
“I am happy, as this proves what you can do with courage – you can beat Inter at San Siro. If we don’t win next Sunday against Genoa, though, then it’s all a waste.
“I was glad that even after those two early errors in which we ran a big risk of going behind, the lads didn’t get scared and they kept going with the right attitude.”
Bologna have now plunged Inter into crisis mode, something Mihajlovic knows about from his time there as player and assistant manager.
“Inter played well and were unlucky on a couple of situations, so if they had scored early, it would’ve been a very different game. But football is made up of incidents and you’ve got to earn your luck too.
“I am convinced that if they keep playing like this, Inter will recover.”
