“We tried absolutely everything to score, including four strikers on the field at the end, but luck wasn’t on our side,” Baroni told Sky Sport Italia.

“There are no points to show for it, but the attitude of the team satisfied me and I am sure we are on the right track.

“I am glad to see the lads fight so hard against any opponent, even the biggest clubs. We’ll try to build on this performance, as if we keep playing like that, the points will come.”

Frosinone thought they were about to take the lead when the referee awarded a penalty for a Bastos tug on Camillo Ciano, but a VAR viewing convinced the official to change his mind.

“I don’t want to comment. Clearly, if incidents go your way, then you get precious points, but what matters right now is maintaining that aggression and courage.”
