La Repubblica and Qatari daily Gulf News spotted Milan scouts in attendance to watch Ali score a record-breaking nine goals, which fired the hosts to Asian Cup glory last week.

“Almoez Ali is an excellent player who can play abroad. I think Almoez is agile. He moves fast,” former Inter boss Jose Mourinho told beIN Sports in his role as an analyst.

“Almoez has all it takes to be playing in another League so that he becomes more competitive.

“He is young and he needs to be playing in a better League if he wants to become a top player.”

Ali was born in Sudan but is a fully-fledged Qatar international and plays for Al-Duhail, who recently signed Medhi Benatia from Juventus.

The striker already has experience of European football, albeit with minnows Eupen, LASK Linz and Cultural Leonesa.
