The Beneamata, for their part, already have a significant Croatian contingent that includes Marcelo Brozovic, Sime Vrsaljko and Ivan Perisic.

La Gazzetta adds the 30-year-old is ready to ‘start a new cycle’ with Inter and could cost €30m.

Rakitic joined Barca from Sevilla in the summer of 2014 and has gone on to win three Liga titles and a Champions League, while he helped Croatia reach the 2018 World Cup Final.

However the Milanese club would still be interested in Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, whose contract expires next year, leaving them with a decision to make.
