Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta says news of the Flamengo fire has brought him ‘immense sadness’, describing it as ‘a tragedy I can’t explain’.
Paqueta began his career at Flamengo, only leaving for Milan in January, and the 21-year-old joined Leonardo in paying his respects to the Brazilian club.
“This news brings me immense sadness,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I spent 12 years of my life in this environment, with the desire to become a boy of the ‘nest’, their dreams and objectives interrupted by a tragedy I can’t explain!
“I wish to transmit strength to the victims’ families and friends. May God comfort the hearts of each one! Let’s pray.”
