New Udinese signing Ben Wilmot is ready to “take this opportunity” in Serie A and takes inspiration from Sergio Busquets.

The 19-year-old centre-back is an England Under-20 international who made the move on transfer deadline day from Watford.

“It’ll be important for me to start playing, so I can learn more quickly,” said Wilmot in his presentation Press conference.

“I am a centre-back, but can also play as a defensive midfielder, so I hope to find my space in the team. I’m very happy to take this opportunity given to me by Udinese.

“I prefer to be myself rather than try to model myself on any other player. I do take inspiration from Sergio Busquets and all those technically-gifted players who can set the example. I just want to work and do as well as possible.”

The Friulani are hanging on in Serie A  and sit only two points clear of Empoli and the relegation zone.

“We’ve got to look at our own results and improve our own performances rather than get distracted by what everyone else is doing.”

Wilmot is the latest arrival from Watford after Stefano Okaka and Marvin Zeegelaar, as the Premier League team is owned by Udinese patrons the Pozzo family.

“The fact Stefano Okaka and Zeegelaar were already here helped me a lot. Now I just want to work hard and finish the season well.”
