The pressure is on, as Roma and Lazio have already won their games to leap into fourth place, awaiting Milan against Cagliari.

“Winning on home turf is essential for our campaign, because at this moment all the teams are pushing hard and the points are starting to become more important every week,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“This type of match is on a razor’s edge and anything can tip it to one side or the other. SPAL are certainly a good team with quality players, as we learned when they beat us 2-0 in September.

“I will admit, SPAL absolutely deserved to win that match. It was the one time we truly underestimated and did not show enough respect to our opponents. However, a long time has passed, it’ll be a different game and we want to make up for it.

“There will be difficulties to overcome, much like the Cagliari match last week, and we’ve never been able to beat SPAL over the last two seasons.”

There are some familiar faces in the SPAL line-up, including Andrea Petagna and Jasmin Kurtic.

“It’s lovely to see Petagna and Kurtic again. Andrea helped turn things around with decisive goals against Crotone and Napoli in my first season in Bergamo. They took part in exciting times for Atalanta and I will always be fond of them.”
