Sinisa Mihajlovic told his revitalised Bologna that they “need the success” against Genoa and have no other thoughts except victory.

“The game with Genoa is going to be more difficult than the one with Inter. We could’ve lost at San Siro and have that be an acceptable result, whereas tomorrow we need a victory or that success in Milan would’ve been futile,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Mihajlovic won the debut after replacing Pippo Inzaghi, as Bologna secured a shock 1-0 victory away to third-placed Inter. It was their first away win in over a year.

“It’s true that beating the big clubs gives you more confidence, courage and self-belief, but it doesn’t mean you can just step out there and win the game.

“We prepared for this match, knowing full well we have to make home advantage count. A win would take us out of the bottom three.”

Federico Santander has recovered, but Lyanco and Riccardo Orsolini miss out.

“The players know they cannot get the attitude wrong. I don’t mind if they miss a goal, but the wrong attitude does infuriate me. If we perform the way we did against Inter, then we’ll get all three points.

“That game is behind us now, we want to look ahead and fire up the fans with our performance. If they want to jeer, they can do so at half-time, not during the game. We need our fans, because dropping into Serie B would be a disaster.”

Genoa have also been revitalised since new Coach Cesare Prandelli took over from Francesco Guidolin.

“Prandelli has done very well so far, changing the system and showing their versatility. Genoa are versatile and have changed system recently, so it won’t be easy.”
