Insigne: 'Proud to be Napoli captain'

Lorenzo Insigne will miss Marek Hamsik, but also feels “extremely proud to wear the captain’s armband” for Napoli against Fiorentina.

The Partenopei lost here 3-0 last season, effectively handing the Scudetto to Juventus.

“It still hurts, but that is in the past and we just need to concentrate on not getting the approach wrong again,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

The star man for Fiorentina is Federico Chiesa, who tends to take the right wing with Insigne on the left for Italy.

“Chiesa is a great player, we work together well in the Nazionale and it’s good for Italian football that we’re both doing so well, but of course we need our teammates.”

Insigne is the new Napoli captain after Hamsik agreed a €20m move to Dalian Yifang.

“It’s a pity that Marek has left, but everyone makes their own choices. I wish him all the best in the world and hope he returns to Naples to visit.

“I am extremely proud to wear the captain’s armband, even more so as I am Neapolitan.”
