Milan President Paolo Scaroni has confirmed that the club will try to sign another ‘big name’ this summer if Financial Fair Play allows it.

Elliott Management financed the signings of Lucas Paqueta and Krzysztof Piatek last month, both of whom have made instant impacts for Milan, and Scaroni is hoping to complement the pair with a third major purchase.

“We have a CEO of great international calibre in Ivan Gazidis who, in England, led Arsenal and, in the US, was the deputy commissioner of Major League Soccer,” he told Il Sole 24.

Milan President Paolo Scaroni has confirmed that the club will try to sign another ‘big name’ this summer if Financial Fair Play allows it.

“We have a CEO of great international calibre in Ivan Gazidis who, in England, led Arsenal and, in the US, was the deputy commissioner of Major League Soccer,” he told Il Sole 24.

“We’ve divided the tasks between us. He manages the club and squad, I’m focused on the more Italian activities: football really is one of the biggest industries in our country and one of the beating hearts of our society.

“Here there are two mountains to climb, one concerning sporting results and the other financial results.

“When I meet a fan who tells me ‘President, why don’t you buy another big name?’, I reply, ‘of course, if FFP allows it.’

“I also explain to them the mechanism that lets you buy players, only with resources that derive from club profits.

“They’re often struck when I tell them because they don’t know that rule. Football is changing a lot and everyone in it must adapt.”
