Napoli and President Aurelio De Laurentiis have been fined a combined €20,000 for inappropriate comments about referee Paolo Mazzoleni.
De Laurentiis told Radio Kiss Kiss two days before Napoli’s 1-0 defeat to Inter in December that Mazzoleni ‘worries me. He’s always been bad against us and he also isn’t impartial.’
Consequently, the movie mogul must pay €14,000, with the Partenopei liable for €6,000.
Nonetheless, Mazzoleni’s performance at San Siro came under fire after he sent off Kalidou Koulibaly for sarcastic applause, despite the defender being racially abused.
