Inter have announced that Samir Handanovic has replaced Mauro Icardi as their captain.
Confirmation of the change of guard was tweeted by Inter on Wednesday, in an unexpected turn of events.
The Nerazzurri have released no further information, although Coach Luciano Spalletti is due to hold a Press conference for Thursday’s Europa League last-32 first leg against Rapid Vienna, which the striker will not take part in.
Handanovic, for his part, has made 275 appearances between the Beneamata’s sticks since arriving from Udinese in 2012.
